Winter Park Resort (WPR) will be kicking off its 77th ski/ride season on November 23, 2016! With 300 days of sunshine, and over 320 inches of annual snowfall on average, Winter Park Resort is a preferred destination and just a short 67 miles northwest of Denver!
After a 6 month break, it’s time to get back on the mountain and test your quads of steel! With opening day falling on a Wednesday this year, it’s the perfect time to join Winter Park locals to enjoy a chill day on the slopes.
Situated at an elevation of 9090 ft., WPR is known to receive those little white flakes we all eagerly await, earlier- and later into the season- than many of the other ski resorts in Colorado. Of course they are able to augment the natural snow with man made, so the runs open are guaranteed to have awesome coverage.
The trails that have historically open on the first day of the season are those at Winter Park Territory, including groomers and cruisers, with a few small bump runs open as well.
The base village businesses have been chomping at the bit to seize opening day, so come with an appetite, wet your whistle and find cool new gear to add to your assortment of high country must-haves! There is no shortage of things to do in The Village, after spending the day carving the mountain.
The party starts at 8:30 am and lifts start running at 9:00am. Dance your favorite snow dance and come join the festivities at opening day on November 23, 2016 at Winter Park Resort!
