With Thanksgiving behind us, it can only mean one thing..the kickoff of the holiday season and festivities to come! To help kick the season off right, the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and the City of Winter Park, will be hosting “Winter on the Avenue” this year on Friday, December 1st from 5-10pm!
A holiday tradition, “Winter on the Avenue” will transform Park Avenue and Central Park into a winter wonderland filled with a flurry of activities for all. The holiday street party will include snow-making, carolers, the tree lighting ceremony, and of course, a visit from Santa himself.
With this year marking the 27th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, the festivities are set to begin at 5pm, starting off with a performance from the children’s choir. Santa will be arriving from the North Pole at 6:30pm, and Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be available for the children to visit and take photos with until 8:00pm. Local merchants will be offering complimentary refreshments during the nights events.
Following an activity filled evening, cozy up with the family to watch the family-friendly, Christmas classics of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “TheMuppet Christmas Carol”, presented by Enzian Theater, starting at 7pm in Central Park.
For those looking to get a bit of holiday skating in, the ice rink, located at the corner of Morse Boulevard and New York Avenue, will be open to all ages throughout the evening.
This night of holiday cheer is free to event, so make sure to bring the whole family!
